I Found A Piece Of Me That Was Missing

It's been a while since I had some down time.
It will be 2 years ago this Christmas that Mom and I took a few days off to meet family in Savannah Georgia to celebrate the 80th Birthday of a very special Aunt.
Mom and I had been through our home flooding and my Dad unexpectedly passing  by the time this event rolled around.
We were more than ready to stop and take some time for family and some fun. I'm so glad we did that. It would be the last time I would see my Aunt and the last time our family would see my Mom.

After arriving here in Michigan this past June, I was more than ready for some down time.

In September, Mike and I took  a week and camped in
Ludington, Mi.
It was one of the best weeks I've had.
I was able to stop and breath. Stop and just enjoy the moment.
I had a great time with Mike and Cooper. We made it count.

We spent time touring Ludington. It's a beautiful area. The lake sparkles and the downtown area is lovely.

This is the lighthouse in Ludington, Mi.

This is Ludington State Park Beach at dusk.

We took a day and ventured up M22 to the Leelanau Peninsula.

One of our stops was at Fishtown.
If you have never been there ... I highly recommend the time to stop and check it out.

This shot was taken inside one of the stores that is a fish shanty. Pretty neat view.

As we continued up the M22 route . There were orchards and vineyards and more orchards!
I was in awe of the beauty!
Of coarse I had to sample some of the local wines....

We ended the tour with a visit to Mission Point Lighthouse.

Cooper loved the beach.

We took another day to visit Manistee, Mi.
Manistee is north of Lundington. It's a very charming town. We toured the area  a couple of times. Their mantra is "The Victorian Port City".
They have a Sleighbell Festival in December that sounds like so much fun.
Maybe one day we can experience that.
Here is a sign that was posted on one of the establishments. Made me laugh!

Ivy growing up the wall at a local restaurant.

One of the local stores on main street. Hand painted sign. LOVE!

Manistee Michigan, downtown area.

It rained on and off during the week.
We were able to have a fire the last night we were there.

The time away, I couldn't put a price tag on it.
It was amazing and needed.
I found a piece of myself that has been missing for some time. Feels good to have that part of me back.

Thanks for stopping by  I always appreciate your company!
Happy Treasure Hunting!
Hugs and Love,

Hey, Sweetie Gal! What sweet and quaint locations!! Your camping trip sounds like it did you so much good! A retreat in a way. I think that Mike has reawakened a part of your heart and soul that had been forgotten and I'm so happy for you both! Cooper is so sweet! Reminds me of he golden I used to have. They are such awesome dogs! Take care and hope to see you pop up again soon! Hugs, Leena

I'm soooo enjoying your blog, Julie, post by post. I tried to leave a lengthy comment on your "Mom's pillows" post but failed. I especially love your images. They're awesome. Hopefully this comment will make it to you.

Happy week,
